Joseph Salazar

Joseph Salazar was born and raised in Los Angeles, California. Residing in North East Los Angeles, Joseph is a proud graduate of Sacred Heart Elementary School and Salesian High School. Following graduation from Salesian in 2007, Mr. Salazar received a football scholarship to play and study at New Mexico Highlands University (NMHU). In 2011, he graduated from NMHU with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science. He fell in love with education his senior year, as he worked as a peer mentor guiding freshmen through their first year of college. In 2019, Mr. Salazar received his Master's in Secondary Education from Mount Saint Mary’s University. He is a devoted Catholic and always wants to be a lifelong learner. 

Mr. Salazar has been involved with catholic education for the majority of his life. He began his teaching career at Our Lady of Guadalupe Rose-Hills in 2013. After serving in middle school for two years, Mr. Salazar decided to move on to teach at Sacred Heart High School. He has taught at Sacred Heart for seven years in multiple subjects ranging from Geography, Honors Geography, World History, US History, Government/Economics, and English. Mr. Salazar has also served Sacred Heart as a soccer coach (2019-2023), STEP Coordinator (2022-2023), summer school Principal (Summer 2022), and had the pleasure of serving on a visiting WCEA committee in the spring of 2023. Mr. Salazar is a middle sibling of two wonderful sisters, son to Gloria and Sebastian Salazar, and proud father to Aurelius James Salazar.
