Without my experience in Onward Leaders, I would not be the leader I am today. My mentor principal, Teresa Villarreal, provided daily inspiration and advice. The training that I was able to have in my year of residency has made the first year as a principal easier to navigate. The challenges existed, yes, but I felt prepared to analyze and solve any problems in front of me. The support of my cohort throughout my first year and even more now has assisted in making many decisions that I am confident in. We rely on each other weekly. I grew so much in my year of residency and I am so blessed to have that experience to fall back on when the days get challenging. I walked in to my school ready to serve.
